Odia swimmer Sai Swarup creates history in national meet

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s young swimming sensation Sai Swarup Swain created history by winning gold medal in the 51st Junior National Aquatic championship 2025 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Wednesday.      

He is the first men swimmer of Odisha, who won gold medal in national swimming meet, for any male swimmer of Odisha. Sai Swaroop clinched gold in the Men’s 200m Backstroke event with a timing of 2:31.50.

The silver and bronze medal was bagged by Reyansh Kanthi Y and Chetan Nagaraja Ganapa both of Karnataka with a timing of 2:33.44 and 2:35.74 respectively.

Earlier in the meet, he won a bronze medal in the men 50m backstroke event clocking 32.59 second. After Rankanidhi Seth, he is the second boy to win a national swimming medal.
