Singapore, April 15:Odia Society of Singapore celebrated Utkal Divas at the Grassroots Club Auditorium in Singapore on Saturday.
The colourful programme was participated by at least 300 Odia families wherein plethora of typical Odissi dance forms was the prime attraction for the audience.
High Commissioner of Singapore Silpak Ambule joined the occasion as the guest of honour who lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the function. President of the Odia Society of Singapore, Subrat Nayak chaired the occasion whereas Secretary Hemant Rout co-ordinated the formal meeting.
Following the inaugural session Odia kids performed a play based on the Ramayan whereas women troupes and Odia folk-groups presented colourful Odishi dance along with contemporary Ollywood dance. Amid the occasion, renowned Odia Singers Pradip Palai and Pragnya Hota enthralled the gallery of audience with their Odia songs and duets.
At the end of the Session, winners and achievers of different competitions conducted by the Odia Forum, were felicitated by the guests.
