Brahmapur, Sept 27: Odia short film Adamya, directed by Krishna D.K., has won the Best Film award at the Magical Cairo Montenotte International Film Festival 2026, held in Italy from September 18 to 20.
Produced under the banner of DK Films, Hinjilikatu, in association with Nrutyam, Hinjilikatu, and the film has earned appreciation for its presentation and storytelling. It was the only film from India to receive an award in the Best Film category at the festival.
The three-day international film festival brought together filmmakers from several countries. As part of the inaugural programme, participating filmmakers visited the Ferrania Film Museum, where they explored the heritage and history of cinema.

On the second day, the short films that received awards at the festival were screened for the audience. Adamya was also screened during the concluding ceremony, where it received the Best Film honour.
Festival director and chief guest Alberto Bellavia presented the award to Seemanchal Maharana, the writer of Adamya, who accepted it on behalf of the film team.
Following the achievement, director Guru Krishna D.K. and the entire team of Adamya have received appreciation from various quarters for bringing recognition to Odia cinema on an international platform.
The festival jury included noted filmmakers and directors Edward Odrieszker, Tracy Van Eijk, Michele Josiah, Patrick Schulz and Andrew Vandaille, along with a mystery guest.
The award marks another recognition for an Odia short film on an international stage and has brought attention to filmmaking talent from Hinjilicut in Ganjam district, Odisha.
