Bhubaneswar, July 22: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Monday said the Odia pride is the central issue in the governance agenda of the new state government led by Mohan Charan Majhi.
In his costumary inaugural address to the first budget session of the newly constituted 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly, Das said "Odia pride is the central issue in our governance agenda. Building on the faith reposed by people of Odisha in my Government, sincere efforts will be put to strengthen and promote Odia culture. All the prominent Odia leaders would be given due recognition by my Government for their contribution. Odisha’s rich handloom, handicraft and cuisine would be promoted by my government to bring prominence across the globe”,
“Lord Jagannath is the identity of every Odia. Universal brotherhood is the core theme of Jagannath culture. My Government acknowledges the importance of Jagannath culture and Odia Asmita”, he said.
Highlighting the vision of the government for the development of the state, the Governor said, “Employment to youth, all time assistance to farmers, women empowerment, upholding the protection of constitutional rights and safety of dalits and adivasis land for landless persons, assistance to farm labourers and to set free dalits, minorities and poor from the clutches of malicious laws will be among the priorities of my Government”, Governor said.
“My Government will transform the agriculture sector in Odisha by introducing Samrudh Krushak Niti. Under this policy, paddy will be procured at Rs.3100 per quintal and payment will be made within 48 hours via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). 12. To significantly boost farmers’ incomes, my Government will focus on value chains, farm mechanisation and post-harvest infrastructure”, said Das.
“To ensure "Zero Tolerance" policy to corruption, effective steps would be taken to eradicate corruption, creating a web portal for grievance redressal and monitoring of corruption complaints”, he added.
