Bhubaneswar: Kashika Misra, hailing from Brahmapur, has created the history of being the first ever golfer of the state to clinch the top position amongst the Ladies Amateur Golfers in the country.
By her consistent performance, with the latest one being the runners up in the IGU West Bengal Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship held at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, held from 13 to 16 May, Kashika has firmed up her place in the No1 slot having moving up from the 4th position with a lead of whopping 16 points. In the amateur golf rankings of India only one more player from Odisha, Manvi Singhania is at 36th amongst the ladies while no male golfer figures in the list.
Kashika recently was part of the Indian Team at the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship held in Danang, Vietnam from 6-9 Mar 2025. Soon she will be representing India in the prestigious Asia Pacific Golf Confederation championship to be held in Hong Kong in the last week of May.
Kashika just completed her Class XIIth at The Shri Ram School, Gurugram and will shortly be joining a University in USA for her golfing and higher studies. Having picked up golf only five years ago and securing a WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) in May 2023 her performance has been consistent over the last year enabling her to move up in the amateur rankings.
Kashika had the privilege of meeting The President of India, Draupadi Murmu on 22 May at the Rashtrapati Bhawan which has motivated her to work even harder and achieve more laurels on the international stage.
Kashika attributes her success to her coach Anitya Chand, guidance of her Parents Kiran Mishra and Brigadier Tapas Mishra, support of the Bhubaneswar and Delhi Golf Clubs, Govt of Odisha, other agencies and the blessings of Lord Jagannath. She has also been specifically thankful to MGM Minerals Ltd. for their unstinted support.
