Bhubaneswar, August 2: Renowned Bollywood sound designer and National Award winner Subash Sahoo has added another feather to his cap, this time as a director. His Odia-language documentary "Mo Bou, Mo Gaan" (My Mother, My Village) has been honoured with the prestigious Silver Lotus (Rajat Kamal) at the 71st National Film Awards – 2023.
The film was awarded in the category of Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Compilation Film (Non-Feature), sharing the recognition with an English-language documentary in a joint win.
Produced by Kixxey Wixey Films in collaboration with RNV 1820 Films, the documentary marks a significant directorial effort by Sahoo, who is best known for his exemplary work in sound design in Indian cinema.
Before its national accolade, "Mo Bou, Mo Gaan" was officially selected and screened at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, under the Indian Panorama section. The film garnered critical acclaim there and continued to impress audiences at various national and international film festivals.
The documentary is a heartfelt and authentic portrayal of rural Odisha, focusing on the director’s deep-rooted connection with his homeland and its culture.
