 Roulkela, Aug 11: In a tragic incident, an Odia jawan was killed in a Naxal attack in Kolhan forest under Jharkhand on Friday.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Sushant Khuntia of Anandpur area in Keonjhar district. Sushant was posted as a jawan with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 2012.

According to the incident, an encounter broke out between the security forces and Naxal in which two jawans were injured. Both the jawans were airlifted to Ranchi after the encounter. However, Khuntia, who sustained bullet injuries in his chest, succumbed to his injuries.

Another injured Jawan who has been identified as Munalal Jadav of Bihar is undergoing treatment at a Ranchi Hospital, said sources.

The deceased jawan was the sole bread earner of his family. He got married on June 2 this year. Khuntia’s family lives in a Kutcha house which also got damaged recently. Following that, they were staying in a rented house. Khuntia’s mother is also undergoing treatment in a hospital. The family has lost three more members in a short span. Khuntias, father died last year. His elder brother was killed while serving as CRPF. One of his brothers also died in cancer, informed sources.
