Kendrapara, Jan 14: A wager from the Aul area in Odisha’s Kendrapara district became a lakhpati overnight as Dollars worth Rs 45 lakh was found credited to his savings account from an unknown source.
Ananta Karan was working overseas as a daily wager before 2014, has received the huge amount on Wednesday,that has been a crossword puzzle for the receiving bank.
According to Karan “Initially, I had gone to Singapore in 2000 to work, and then to Malaysia, Oman, Dubai and Kuwait. I had also gone to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. I quit my job in 2014 due to health concern.”
Responding to the queries on the credit of the huge sum of foreign exchange, Karan said, during his tenure abroad he had contributed meager amounts towards his PF and insurance. The amount could have been a few thousands. However, he expressed his ignorance on the remittance of the large sum amounting to 45 lakh, exchanged in US Dollars.
The source of deposit and the remitter are yet to be ascertained. The receiving bank is investigating into the matter to trace out the reason and sources of the financial trasacation.
