Kamakhyanagar, Ap 15: Police have successfully arrested Rakesh Nath, the suspected kingpin of the infamous ‘King of Forest’ gang, and a notorious criminal involved in several serious crimes, including the high-profile murder of BJD leader Jashobant Parida.

According to police sources, Nath, accompanied by four associates, allegedly entered a house in Khuntapashi village, located under the Kamakhyanagar police limits, and opened fire, discharging five rounds. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Upon receiving a tip-off, police rushed to the scene. While Nath’s accomplices managed to escape, Nath attempted to flee by jumping off the roof of the house as the police team arrived. He sustained significant injuries from the fall and was promptly apprehended by the authorities.

Nath was subsequently rescued by the police and admitted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities revealed that Nath had been terrorizing the local community, frequently barging into homes, firing bullets, and throwing crude bombs. The latest attack reportedly targeted the residence of Subash Khuntia, a former associate of Nath within the same criminal gang.

The police have intensified their efforts to locate and arrest the four accomplices who are still on the run. Investigations into the case are underway.
