Balangir, Nov 25: In a tragic incident that has plunged the Sadeipali Lower Sukhtel Displaced Colony and RR Colony into mourning, a grandmother passed away from shock shortly after the sudden death of her grandson.

According to sources, Suman Khuas had played badminton on Monday evening and later asked his friends over phone to come to college the next morning. Nothing appeared unusual until late at night, when he suddenly experienced severe stomach pain while sleeping beside his father, Sudhir Khuas.

Suman was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College & Hospital, where doctors at the emergency ward administered two injections and discharged him. However, in the early hours of Tuesday, his condition deteriorated sharply. He was taken back to the medical college, where doctors declared him dead.

The tragedy deepened when Suman’s grandmother, Sunita Khuas, collapsed upon seeing her grandson’s body. Overwhelmed with grief, her health deteriorated rapidly. She died on the way to the hospital.

The Khuas family had been displaced three years ago due to the Lower Sukhtel project and resettled at Sadeipali Displaced Colony. Suman was the only son of Sudhir Khuas. The twin deaths have devastated the family, casting a pall of sorrow over the entire colony.

Both grandmother and grandson were cremated on the same pyre, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
