Bhubaneswar, June 15: No non-servitors will be allowed onto the chariots during this Rath Yatra (Car Festival) in Puri, said Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Sunday.
In order to prevent unauthorized persons who overcrowd the Chariots unnecessarily, Harichandan said, only designated servitors will be allowed to perform the rituals. However, no common men including the non-servitors will be allowed to climb atop the three Raths.
Offenders will face stern legal action including arrest in case they are found on the Raths, the Minister added.
This announcement came ahead of the Rath Yatra in Puri, following a key meeting with the Chhatisa Nijog.
