Bhubaneswar, Feb 18: The +2 examinations commenced today across the state under the supervision of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), with 4,01,623 students appearing this year. On the opening day, Science stream students are writing their Mother Tongue Odia paper.

The Council has put elaborate arrangements in place to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. As many as 120 central squads have been deployed to prevent malpractice, and all teams have already reached their assigned districts.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond extended their best wishes to the examinees.

According to CHSE officials, the examinations are being conducted at 1,357 centres and seven sub-centres across the state. To check unfair practices, 75 zonal squads, 1,364 observer squads and 1,364 district administration squads have been deployed.

Earlier, on the 19th, vocational stream examinations were held for BFC–History, BFC–Accountancy and BFC–Physics. On the 20th, Arts and Commerce students will appear for the Mother Tongue Odia paper. On the 21st, vocational students will take BFC–Political Science and Chemistry examinations, while Science stream students will appear for Geology. The Science stream English examination is scheduled for the 24th.

The examinations will continue till March 25 and will be held daily from 10 am to 1 pm.

A dedicated control room has been set up at the CHSE headquarters to monitor live CCTV footage from examination centres. CHSE Examination Controller Prashant Kumar Parida said strict action would be taken in case of any irregularities.
