Patna, November 19:Nitish Kumar, the supremo of Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), was unanimously elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar at a meeting of the newly elected alliance MLAs on Wednesday. The announcement was made by state minister Shrawon Kumar.
Kumar is set to be sworn in as Bihar's Chief Minister for an unprecedented 10th term at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday.
The proposal to elect Nitish Kumar as NDA's leader was presented by JD(U)’s Vijay Choudhary and seconded by BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha. Leaders from other alliance parties, including LJP (RV), HAM, and RLM, also supported the motion.
Earlier on Wednesday, Nitish Kumar was also re-elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislature party by the party’s newly elected MLAs.
The NDA has secured a resounding victory in the Bihar assembly elections, winning 202 seats in the 243-member legislature. The alliance includes BJP with 89 seats, JD(U) with 85, LJP (RV) with 19, HAM with 5, and RLM with 4 seats.
