New Delhi, July 17: Director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana is set to be made with a staggering budget of over ₹4000 crore, producer Namit Malhotra confirmed in a recent interview. Touted as India’s most expensive film to date, it aims to rival Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar and Avengers in scale and spectacle.
Ranbir Kapoor stars as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol will portray Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey will play Lakshman. The film will also feature an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal, and others.
Backed by extensive research, the two-part film has completed shooting for its first installment, which is now in post-production. The music is composed by Oscar-winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Global release plans are underway in collaboration with a Hollywood studio.
Ramayana Part 1 is slated to release during Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
