The accused has been identified as Babul Das, a resident of Chandbali.

In addition to Das, Chandbali police have detained five other suspects for questioning in connection with the case.
The victim, a Class III student, had left home around 2 pm on Tuesday but failed to return. Her family, along with residents, began searching for her. At approximately 8 pm, her body was discovered by villagers, who immediately raised an alarm. Police seized the body and sent it to the Chandbali Community Health Centre (CHC) for postmortem examination.
The incident sparked outrage in the locality. Residents staged road blockades at several points in Chandbali, burning tyres and demanding swift action against the culprits. To manage the situation, a police platoon was deployed to maintain order.
A forensic team has also been engaged to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
