Bhubaneswar, March 31: Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Nayak has returned to the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after resigning from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Nayak, a two-time MLA from Nilagiri, rejoined the BJD at its party headquarters in Bhubaneswar, along with his supporters. His decision comes ahead of the upcoming Odisha elections.
In 2019, Sukanta Nayak left the BJD and joined the BJP. The BJP fielded him as their candidate for the Nilagiri constituency, and he won the seat.
Upon rejoining the BJD, Nayak expressed that he was inspired by Biju Babu (referring to Biju Patnaik, a prominent political figure in Odisha). He also highlighted a lack of coordination between BJP leaders and workers, leading to his decision to return to the BJD.
Nayak intends to work towards carrying forward the vision of the Chief Minister as part of the BJD.
It remains to be seen whether Sukanta Nayak will be the BJD candidate for Nilagiri in the upcoming election. The political landscape is dynamic, and his return to the BJD adds an interesting twist to the electoral scenario in Nilagiri assembly segment of Balasore district..
