Nilgiri, Mar 29: Nilgiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the BJP on Friday.
Former Salepur MLA Prakash Behera has officially resigned from the primary membership of BJP.
The legislator representing Nilgiri has submitted his resignation letter to Manmohan Samal, the President of the Odisha BJP.
Sources said, Nayak had won a seat in the State Legislative Assembly from Nilagiri Constituency in Balasore district in 2014 as a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). However, he switched to the BJP in 2019 after being denied a ticket by the ruling BJD. Despite this, he successfully retained his seat in the 2019 Assembly Elections under the BJP banner.
