Nifty crosses 25,000 mark as markets hit all-time high

New Delhi, Aug 1: Indian equity indices started the day at record highs on Thursday, buoyed by favorable global signals. Early in the trading session, the Sensex and Nifty reached unprecedented peaks of 82,129 and 25,078 respectively.
By 9:41 a.m., the Sensex had risen by 299 points or 0.37%, reaching 82,040, while the Nifty was up by 101 points or 0.41% at 25,051. The enthusiasm extended to midcap and smallcap stocks, with the Nifty midcap 100 index climbing 213 points or 0.36% to 59,222, and the Nifty smallcap 100 index advancing to 19,227, up 90 points or 0.47%.
Market sentiment remained upbeat with 1,503 stocks gaining and 570 in decline on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Among the top gainers in the Sensex were Maruti Suzuki, JSW Steel, Power Grid, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Axis Bank, NTPC, IndusInd Bank, and HDFC Bank. Conversely, M&M, Sun Pharma, UltraTech Cement, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finserv were among the leading losers.
Globally, trading was active in Seoul, Bangkok, and Jakarta, while Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong experienced declines. The US markets closed positively on Wednesday, contributing to the overall optimistic sentiment in global markets.
