Bhubaneswar, May 28: A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived at Airfield Police Station to investigate the Azad Nagar bomb blast case. Along with a scientific team, the NIA officials are examining the scooter seized from the blast site.
The investigation is focused on whether the scooter was used to transport materials for making bombs and whether any explosive traces or samples can be recovered from it.
It may be recalled that a massive explosion took place in Azad Nagar on January 27, 2026. The accused, Sehnawaz Mallik, his mother Lijatun Bibi, Sehnawaz’s girlfriend Truptimayee, and his associate Amiya Mallik were seriously injured in the blast.
Later, Sehnawaz and his mother succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
Initially, the Airfield Police conducted the investigation. However, the NIA later took over the case. The NIA team has now collected all relevant police documents from Airfield Police Station and has intensified its investigation into the incident.
