Bhubaneswar, November 25: In a startling turn of events, an Odia girl who had earlier accused her American adoptive mother of physical and mental torture has now admitted that her allegations were false.

The woman, identified as Puja, also known as Sejal John (19), revealed that her accusations were fabricated with the sole purpose of returning to Odisha.

Upon her arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Puja confessed that she had falsely claimed torture and forced religious conversion by her US mother.

Puja further explained that her motivations stemmed from a desire to reunite with her romantic partner in Balasore and return to her home state.
