Bhubaneswar, December 16: A notorious gangster, wanted in connection with at least 15 criminal cases, was reportedly injured in a gunfight with the police in Bhadrak district early Tuesday morning, officials confirmed.

According to the police report, a six-member team had acted on a tip-off. It proceeded to the Malgodown area with the intent to arrest Kamalakant Das, also known as Budhia. Budhia, accompanied by his associates and riding a motorcycle, was spotted during the operation.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Rout stated that as the police attempted to intercept the group, Budhia opened fire, leading to a confrontation.
