Bhubaneswar, January 13: The State Government will disburse Rs 250 crore to as many as 4,57,681 women beneficiaries under the Subhadra Scheme by January 18, informed Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday.

“Out of the 4,57,681 eligible beneficiaries, 1,78,398 beneficiaries are new entrants while 2,55,265 beneficiaries will get the first and second instalment at one go,” said Parida.

Parida, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, said that after scrutiny and grievance redressal mechanism, as many as 24,018 beneficiaries have been found to be eligible to be covered under the State’s flagship scheme.

Parida said a total of 250 crore will be disbursed to the bank accounts of 4,57,681 beneficiaries for the same.

The Subhadra Yojana promises financial aid of Rs 50,000 to eligible women over a period of five years, with two instalments of Rs 5,000 every year being directly transferred to their bank accounts.

The scheme is a flagship initiative of the State Government to benefit over 1 crore women in the age group of 18 to 60.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Subhadra Yojana for the empowerment of women on September 17 in 2024, his birthday, in Bhubaneswar.

The State Government had announced that the two instalments will be released on International Women's Day on March 8 and on Rakshabandhan every year.
