​​​​​​​Bhadrak, Oct 22: In a disturbing incident reported from Talabandha village under Chandbali police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, an elderly couple was left battling for life after their son attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon.

The couple, identified as Madhusudan Nayak and his wife Madhuri Nayak, sustained critical injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

As per reports, the accused, identified as Manoj Nayak, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with his parents over a family dispute which escalated into a violent assault. The enraged son hacked his parents, causing serious injuries and later fled from the scene.

Ironically, despite repeated calls for an ambulance, it did not arrive. Eventually, a local Sarpanch Muna Bishwal was transported the profusely bleeding elderly couple in his own car to the hospital in Cuttack.

Upon getting the information, police also reached the spot and stock of the situation.

An investigation has been launched into the matter to determine the exact circumstances that led to this gruesome attack, said the police.
