New Delhi, July 30: The CBI has apprehended another suspect linked to the NEET question paper leak, this time in Mumbai. The accused, identified as Raunak Raj, was presented before the CBI Special Court in Patna on Monday evening. Special Judicial Magistrate Kumari Rinku granted the central agency custody of Raunak Raj until August 2.
Raunak Raj is alleged to have been present in Hazaribagh on the day of the NEET examination held on May 5 this year, where he purportedly accessed and solved the leaked question paper. He becomes the eighth individual arrested by the CBI in connection with this case.
Earlier, the CBI had detained four third-year students from Patna AIIMS on July 18, along with two MBBS students from Bharatpur in Rajasthan and one from RIMS Ranchi. The NEET question paper leak was initially uncovered by the Patna Police on the day of the examination, May 5. Subsequently, the case was transferred from the Bihar Police's Economic Offences Unit (EOU) to the CBI following a recommendation from the Union Education Ministry.
