Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Odisha's Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed the Odisha Legislative Assembly that as of October 31, 2025, a total of 13,09,250 educated youths have registered with various District Skill Development-cum-Employment Offices across the state.

Responding to a question from MLA Arvind Mohapatra, Minister Swain provided insights into the state government's efforts to enhance employment opportunities. Between June 2024 and October 2025, a total of 37,371 educated youths were offered government jobs in different departments. Moreover, between April 2024 and September 2025, 26,412 candidates were shortlisted for placement in private sector companies through dedicated placement drives organised by District Skill Development-cum-Employment Offices.

The minister highlighted that the registration portal of the Directorate of Employment, Government of Odisha, plays a crucial role in connecting job seekers with both public and private sector job opportunities. The portal serves as an interface to facilitate access to employment across various sectors, helping bridge the gap between skilled youth and employers.

However, Swain acknowledged that despite these initiatives, a significant number of educated youths are still awaiting employment opportunities. The government is continuing its efforts to expand and improve the skill development programs and placement services to further address this gap.

The Minister’s update reflects ongoing efforts by the state to enhance employment opportunities for its educated youth, focusing on both public and private sector placements through skill development initiatives.
