Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election Result Live:  Trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI) show that the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance has crossed the halfway mark, leading in 47 seats as of 10:55AM.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 28 seats as of the same time.

According to the data, 3 to 5 rounds of counting have been completed in most of the 90 constituencies.

Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed optimism, stating that the alliance was in a strong position and urged the BJP to respect the outcome. “We have hope that we will win. The decision made by the voters of J&K will be clear by this afternoon. There should be transparency. If the people’s mandate is against BJP, they shouldn’t pull any tricks… We formed this alliance to win, and we are hopeful,” Abdullah said as reported by news agency ANI.

The counting commenced at 8 am with heavy security arrangements in place.

The Jammu and Kashmir is going under the electoral process after a gap of six years, following the collapse of the PDP-BJP regime on June 20, 2018, and the subsequent abrogation of Article 370.

The assembly elections for its 90 constituencies were held in three phases - September 18, September 25, and October 1 - after 2014.

This is also the first election for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly since Article 370 was abolished in August 2019, which divided the former state into the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
