Bhubaneswar, Mar 6: NCC cadets will provide first aid to road accident victims in Odisha as they will be deployed as ‘Junior Rakshak’.
The State Transport Department has collaborated with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for an important initiative, marked by the signing of a MoU at Lok Seva Bhawan today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressed the event virtually.
Initially, the department plans to train approximately 62,000 NCC cadets to serve as first responders in road accidents, providing vital first aid to those injured. Training sessions will be conducted at various NCC camps across the state, with a target of training about 20,000 cadets annually.
In 2021, the CM launched the ‘Rakshak’ program to save lives of road accident victims within the critical 'golden hour'. The program focuses on delivering swift and effective first aid and facilitating transportation to the nearest hospital.
Over 12,000 first responders have been trained across Odisha as part of this initiative.
