Malkangiri, Feb 23: Outlawed CPI (Maoist) activists on Thursday night reportedly murdered two villagers from Duled village in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, near the Odisha border, accusing them of being police informers.
The victims, identified as Sodi Hunga and Madhvi Nanda, were found dead outside the village on Friday morning.
The Maoist Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army has claimed responsibility for the killings, alleging that the victims collaborated with the police. Simultaneously, they have blamed the BJP-led government in Chhattisgarh for the deaths.
Notably, the region has witnessed a recent surge in Maoist violence, with an off-duty Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) company commander being brutally murdered by extremists in insurgency-hit Bijapur on February 18.
