Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: BJP has won the election in Odisha but can never win people's heart, said Leader of Opposition (LoP) and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday.
While flagging off BJD’s Janasampark Padayatra in Bhubaneswar, Naveen said that Padayatra will be instrumental in propagating a social movement against the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government that has been established over slew of false promises.
Underlining the plethora of welfare works achieved by the former BJD government, the LoP said that development is BJD’s top identity. The BJD believes in public welfare and addressing people’s concerns regarding basic amenities.
Mentioning the GDP of the state during his reign, Naveen said that poverty index of the state which was around 70 percent in 2000, was reduced to 10 percent. The per capita income had increased and Odisha was much ahead of most of the neighboring states for its resilient socio-economic measures.
Naveen also said that tens of thousands of people of Odisha were availing hassless and free medical care under the BSKY Yojna, which has scripted a history in good governance and sustainable government.
Responding to Patnaik’s statements, BJP vice-president Biranchi Tripathy said, “Naveen Patnaik is jealous of BJP’s thumping victory that toppled up Naveen’s 24-your legacy with unprecedented people’s mandate.
