Bhubaneswar, January 21: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has finally addressed the recent suspension of Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra, speaking to party workers and the public, though without directly naming him.

Patnaik clarified that the suspension was a result of complaints regarding harassment faced by residents in the constituency. He shared, “I trusted someone and allowed him to serve the people and bring about positive change. But I learned that the people of Patkura have been facing harassment.”

He strongly assured the public, “We will not tolerate such behavior in the party. I will remove anyone who harasses you.” Patnaik reassured the people of Patkura that a capable leader would be appointed soon to serve their interests more effectively.

The suspension of Arvind Mohapatra was announced on January 15, citing "anti-party activities." Sources from the BJD alleged that Mohapatra had worked against the party’s Kendrapada MP candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections, operated a parallel faction in the constituency, and avoided using party symbols or images of Patnaik in his programs.
