Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated three housing projects for the slum dwellers in Bhubaneswar today. These affordable housing complexes are Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur, Barunei Enclave in Subudhipur, and Keshari Residency in Satya Nagar.
At Budha Vihar, the Chief Minister handed over the keys to beneficiaries. A total of 1722 pucca houses have been distributed to the eligible beneficiaries. On this occasion, Patnaik said, “Slum dwellers have an important role in the development of the city. I am very happy to provide these houses to poor people.”
The ambitious project was constructed under an urban housing scheme-Saharanchal Awas Yojana. The Keshari Residency was built for the residents of Shantipalli and Barunei Enclave for residents of Tarini Basti (slum). In Budha Vihar, the project was constructed over 12 acres of land. As many as 820 beneficiaries have got affordable houses in Budha Vihar.
Similarly, 560 houses have been distributed in Keshari Residency at Satyanagar, and 342 houses have been distributed in Barunei Enclave at Subudhipur today.
Around 7,000 pucca houses will be distributed in the coming days, said an official.
Notably, the affordable housing complex is a 5-storied building with all modern facilities and each pucca house has a bedroom, a hall, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
