National Kabaddi Champion in distress: Works as a Swiggy boy at Cuttack

Cuttack, June 7: One of the National Kabaddi Champions of Odisha K. Madhav Rao is now living in distress. Acute penury and his family liability have brought him off the track and he is working as a Swiggy boy. After getting no job out of sportsman’s quota as he is not a permanent resident of Odisha, the Kabaddi star is now working as a delivery boy to earn his bread. K. Madhav Rao has been living at Anant Vihar residential area of Tulasipur in Cuttack city since generations. He came up as a rising kabaddi player from Ranihata High School at his student hood. However, he was selected for the state level matches for his outstanding performances. Meanwhile, he represented Odisha for National Junior Kabaddi team and fetched bronze medal from Haridwar Championship. Subsequently, he played in the State’s Senior Kabaddi team and bagged Championship for five times. Apart from it, he brought pride for the state playing in the National Kabaddi Championship consecutively for five times. On the other hand, Madhab could not get a government or Private sector Undertaking job like his other colleagues. He can’t obtain a residential certificate in Odisha for having no recorded land with his parents. That’s why, he has been always knocked out from availing a sportsman’s quota. Getting no way out, he has landed to the profession of a delivery boy in order to provide two square meals for his elderly parents. Still, I continue my regular practice besides my struggle for existence, said Madhav.
