Rourkela, Oct 29: Railway services were almost disrupted between Rourkela (Odisha) and Ranchi(Jharkhand) on Wednesday as a goods train derailed in the route in the morning.

The incident took place on the Rourkela–Ranchi main line between Bano and Kanarawa railway stations in Odisha’s Sundargarh district where at least 10 wagons came off the track and turtled.

On being informed, railways crews swung into action and undertook restoration works.As the train services were affected, senior officers and engineers from the Ranchi Railway Division’s engineering and operations departments reached the site to take stock of the situation.

The precise reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. However, cyclone montha inducted shower is anticipated as a reason behind the derailment.

Following the incident, train services on Rourkela–Ranchi route was temporary stalled.Thus, the Maurya Express (Gorakhpur–Sambalpur) was halted near Kanarawa station with some other passenger trains were rescheduled.
