Bhubaneswar, Oct 10: The annual terracotta exhibition ‘Mruttika 2025’ is all set to commence from October 13 at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar. Organized every year ahead of Diwali, the event will continue till October 19, showcasing the rich tradition of Odisha’s terracotta craftsmanship.
Artisans from across the state will participate in the exhibition, offering a variety of handcrafted clay items, including traditional earthen lamps, decorative pieces, and home décor products. The event provides a platform for artisans to market their products directly to customers, while also promoting the use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials.
This year’s exhibition will see participation from over 500 artisan groups, including Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Producer Groups (PGs). Notably, 18 groups from Khordha district will be actively involved in the exhibition. However, artisan groups from Deogarh, Kandhamal, and Gajapati districts will not be participating.
In a move to support artisan sales, the Handicrafts Department has permitted the use of single-use plastic packaging, though the sale will be restricted strictly to handmade products. No machine-made or non-handcrafted items will be allowed.
The exhibition will remain open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, offering visitors a chance to explore and purchase authentic terracotta crafts while supporting local artisans.
