New Delhi, June 18: In a key move to promote inclusive education, the Ministry of Education signed a tripartite MoU with the National Institute for Open Schooling (NIOS), NCERT, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the agreement will ensure equal learning opportunities for disabled children (Divyangjans), aligning with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Pradhan highlighted the importance of sensitivity and respect for Divyangjans, inspired by PM Modi’s inclusive vision. He called for a national dialogue on accessibility and disability rights, urging collaboration between the Ministries of Education and Social Justice.
Under the MoU, NCERT will develop tailored curriculum and textbooks, while NIOS will conduct examinations for disabled students. This initiative formalizes and scales up previously informal training programs, marking a milestone toward an inclusive and equitable education system.
