Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Dwibendu Maharana, one of Delhi’s most wanted fraudsters, at Bhubaneswar airport. Maharana, who had allegedly duped people of several crores of rupees through fake investment schemes, was nabbed by the immigration team while returning from Abu Dhabi.
According to reports, Maharana had floated bogus companies in Delhi, collected massive sums from investors, and then fled to Dubai to evade arrest. Following multiple complaints, a look-out notice had been issued against him by a CBI court.
After being detained upon arrival in Bhubaneswar, he was handed over to the Airport Police Station for questioning. Sources said that Maharana hails from Cuttack district, Odisha.
The CBI is now conducting further investigations into the financial fraud and tracing the flow of the embezzled money.
