Keonjhar, Aug 12: The mortal remains of CRPF Jawan Sushant Khuntia, who was killed in Naxal attack in Jharkhand, were consigned to flames at his native Anandpur of the district with full state honors.
Villagers paid tearful tribute to the deceased jawan after his body reached his village. Large numbers of people were gathered to bid adieu to the proud son of the state.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over Sushant’s martyrdom.
Worth mentioning, Sushant was killed during an encounter with Maoists in Kolhan forest of West Singbhum district in Jharkhand on Friday. Sushant was posted as a jawan with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 2012.
An encounter broke out between the security forces and Naxal in which two jawans were injured. Both the jawans were airlifted to Ranchi after the encounter. However, Khuntia, who sustained bullet injuries in his chest, succumbed to his injuries.
