Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: Morality and ethics are foundations of a strong and better society. If children are raised well and preached about the importance of morality and ethics in life, then a society is bound to prosper and be happy. 

Therefore, every possible effort must be made at the family as well as school levels to raise children ethically. A favourable environment should be created to nurture the young minds with virtues of life.

Speakers at the valedictory function of 34th PECUC (People's Cultural Centre) 'Sisumela', unanimously opined this, here on Monday evening.  

The weeklong children's festival culminated in a vibrant and colourful atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression of joy and creativity. 

The organisers claimed that this year's PECUC Children's Festival added yet another glorious chapter to the history of PECUC 'Sisumela', creating smiles and inspiring hundreds of young audience.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Justice Dr DP Choudhury, Honourable Former Judge of Orissa High Court stated that we all should work together for the development of children. 

Subodh Chandra Acharya, Joint Director-cum-Joint Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department (under Government of Odisha), advised children to remain grateful to their parents. They need to take care of their parents, when they grow old, he advised.

Sasmita Nanda and Ruby Biswal, both Members of OSCPCR,  advised children to nurture and develop their inner talents. But at the same time they need to continue their studies, as well, the duo stressed.

Dr N Tirumal Nayak, IAS, Labour Commissioner advised children to build good character and strive for success in life.

Niranjan Sahoo, (Retired IAS) encouraged children not to get biased by others and listen to their inner voice. They must pursue  professional careers as per their likings with guidance from seniors, he added.

 Among others, Manna Biswas, Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF, veteran journalist and President, PECUC Sisumela Committee Prodosh Kumar Pattnaik also graced the occasion.

Earlier, Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC gave the introductory note.

The a winners of various competitions held during the week-long children's festival, were presented awards and certificates on the final evening.
