
New Delhi, September 20: Renowned actor Mohanlal has been chosen to receive the distinguished Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2023. The honour will be bestowed upon him at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony, scheduled for September 23, 2025.
In an official announcement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting praised Mohanlal's remarkable contribution to cinema, describing his career as one that continues to inspire generations.
The statement read: "On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Shri Mohanlal will be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. His legendary journey through Indian cinema reflects unmatched talent, versatility, and dedication, setting a gold standard in the industry."
Mohanlal’s cinematic career began at an early age, and over the years, he has become a prominent figure across various regional film industries, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. With more than four decades in the industry, he has already been honoured with India’s prestigious Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2019).
On the work front, Mohanlal will soon be seen in his upcoming project, Vrusshabha, directed by Nanda Kishore.
