Bhubaneswar, May 24: ‘Mo Bus’ service will be extended to all Gram Panchayats in Odisha. However, it will be managed under the Laxmi Scheme, Transport Secretary Usha Padhee informed on Tuesday.
The Mo Bus services run by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will now ply between every block and Panchayat across the state. Mo Bus services will be available in as many as six districts as a pilot project for the first time. The districts include Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, and Gajapati. Later will be extended to other regions later, said Padhee.
On May 18, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal to extend the ‘Mo Bus’ service to nine towns in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Ganjam districts – Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Brajarajnagar-Belpahar and Berhampur-Gopalpur-Chhatrapur-Hinjilicut-Digapahandi clusters.
Worth mentioning, the CRUT has been providing Mo Bus services in some urban clusters of Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, and Sundargarh districts for long. The service was essentially introduced in the Rourkela-Biramitrapur-Rajgangpur Master Plan area in the Sundargarh district during the Men’s World Cup Hockey in January.
