Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: On the first day of the Monsoon Session, members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday paid tributes to several departed leaders.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi introduced a condolence motion in the House, paying tribute to the significant contributions of various leaders to the state.
Those honored included former minister Rajendra Dholakia, former deputy speaker Bibhuti Bhushan Singh Mardaraj, and former MLAs Prasanna Kumar Pattnaik, Karendra Majhi, Niranjan Hembram, Prafulla Kumar Bhanja, and Mohammad Rafiq. The members then stood in silence to honor their memory.
Deputy Leader of Opposition Prasanna Acharya and Congress Legislature Party Leader Ramchandra Kadam supported the motion.
Following the condolence motion, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House for the day.
