Bhubaneswar, July 10: In a broad daylight heist, some miscreants allegedly looted ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh from a bike dickey in Chamakhandi locality of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday.
As per reports, the incident took place at Narendrapur Square under Chamakhandi police limits in the district when a jeweler parked his bike on the roadside with the ornaments in the dickey and was busy eating at a roadside eatery.
Taking advantage of the situation, the miscreants reportedly broke open the bike dickey and decamped with the bag containing the ornaments.
When the jeweler went to his bike after eating, he found that the dickey open and the bag containing the ornaments was missing. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the police.
Acting on the complaint, police swung into action and checked CCTV cameras. In the CCTV footage, some miscreants looted the bag.
An investigation has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to nab the culprits involved, said the police.
