Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: At a time when a gang of rowdy youths’ attack on an Army Captain and his fiancée is yet under scanner, a Senior IPS officer and his family members have faced the wrath of two antisocials, a few kilometers away from the Bharatpur Police Station on Friday.
The IPS Officer, Identified as DIG Indian Coast Guard SR Das somehow handled the case and later took assistance of the Police, said sources.
According to report, Indian Coast Guard DIG SR Das along with his family was on his way home by a car when two youths misbehaved with them near the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
The miscreants, who were reportedly in inebriated conditions, tried to stop the DIG’s official vehicle and behaved him rudely.
Subsequently, Das informed police in this connection and lodged a complaint with the Nayapalli Police.
The Nayapalli Police rushed to the spot, picked the miscreants and detained them for interrogation.
Later, the DIG met Police Commissioner (CP) Suresh Dev Datta Singh relating to the issue and briefed the ordeal before him.
Responding to media persons the CP said that, two accused persons were promptly detained and an investigation was initiated.
Stern action will be initiated against the unruly youths, he added.
Worth mentioning, attack on the Army Captain and his fiancée by the road romeos at late night on September 15 had later sparked a row between the Bharatpur Police and Indian Army, that’s yet under investigation. Similar attack on a senior IPS & Defence Officer today, has raised concern for the denizens and the Commissionerate Police itself.
