Rayagada, Dec 11: Two minor siblings who had gone to work at a seafood processing plant in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh died soon after returning home. The deceased have been identified as Gangadhar Majhi and Maheswar Majhi. Sources said the RPF personnel found the duo at Rayagada station in an unconscious condition while returning from Visakhapatnam. The duo was later taken to Rayagada Hospital and Mohana Hospital respectively, where they died while undergoing treatment.
The minor siblings had migrated from Odisha to work at a seafood processing plant in Palmanpeta, in the Visakhapatnam district, just three months back. Unfortunately, they fell ill while working at the plant due to unknown reasons.
It has been alleged that the plant authorities compelled them to work strenuously without proper medical attention for their deteriorating health. As their health continued to worsen, the siblings, decided to return home, borrowed money from their supervisor and boarded a train. Despite the efforts of the RPF personnel to admit them to the nearest hospital for treatment, they could not be saved.
Further investigation is underway.
