Malkangiri, Aug 21: A minor Maoist surrendered before the Malkangiri Police on Wednesday.

The cadre has been identified as Mukesh Khosa, a CPI(Marxist) from Chhattisgarh.

Mukesh, a resident of Sukumajilla Silgar village, joined the outlawed Maoist organisation in 2023. He was active in the Maoist organisation for the last 8 months and was involved in many violent incidents on Odisha and Chhattisgarh border.

With the arms down of Kosha, he has been given Rs 2 lakh as ex-gratia as per the surrender policy of the Odisha government, said DIG Charan Singh Meena.

According to a press release issued by Malkangiri Police, Kosha was inspired by the various developmental activities undertaken by the Government of Odisha in Malkangiri and realised the futility of the violent path of Naxalism. The extremist was disillusioned with his organisation leaders after realising that they were doing nothing for the development of their area and were only interested in wreaking violence and bloodbath in the locality.
