Delhi, Aug 2: The minor girl who was set abaze in Odisha’s Puri weeks ago, reportedly died in AIIMS Delhi on Saturday.
The victim who was almost doing well with the intervention of a team of doctors, succumbed to her injuries all of a sudden in the evening, said sources.
Though the formal bulletin regarding the minor girl’s death is yet awaited, fatal infection in her body is anticipated as the underlying cause behind the girl’s misearable death despite adequate medical care.
Worth mentioning, the minor girl was reportedly charred by miscreants after she was doused kerosene oil on her on July 19 near Bayabar at the Balanga village in the Puri district. As a result, the victim had suffered over 75% burn injuries and was rushed to the DHH Puri and then AIIMS Bhubaneswar for resuscitation. As her health condition went more critical after two days she was airlifted to Delhi AIIMS for better care.Here, in the burn and plastic surgery unit she was kept on ventilator support for several days and skin grafting surgery was conducted on her body.
Unfortunately, the 16-year girl breathed her last in the afternoon despite taking protein and other medicines orally in the morning as a sign of speedy progress in her health.
