Balipatna, Oct 11: A minor girl allegedly committed suicide after being blackmailed by jilted lover in Balipatna of Odisha’s Khordha district.
As per reports, a youth of Rajas village under Balipatna police limits had a one sided love affair with the deceased. But she had outrightly rejected his proposal.
Enraged over this, the accused started blackmailing the girl with some morphed pictures of her.
Unable to tolerate the mental torture, the girl reportedly hanged herself with a scarf last night. Thereafter, her family members rushed her to Balipatna Community Healthcare Centre (CHC). She was later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where she breathed her last during treatment.
On getting the information, local police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. The cops sent the body for post-mortem.
The police have also detained two youths in this connection and were questioning them.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
