Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: The Capital Police on Monday filed a 680-page charge sheet in the high-profile murder case of Shubhamitra Sahu, a traffic constable, whose body was found under mysterious circumstances in September 2025. The charge sheet, which was filed in the court, implicates several individuals, including Shubhamitra’s husband, Deepak Rout, a fellow constable, as the prime accused.

Shubhamitra Sahu was found dead under suspicious conditions. According to the police, the murder was driven by financial disputes related to money lending and insurance dealings.

The investigation revealed that Deepak Rout had been involved in a financial dispute with his wife regarding money and loan recovery, which ultimately led to her murder. The charge sheet lists Shubhamitra’s husband Deepak Rout, along with two other associates Vinod Bihari Bhuyan (known as Pappu) and Shambhu Mohanty (also known as Jatia) as the main accused in the case.

According to police reports, Deepak, after an altercation over money, allegedly murdered his wife by strangulation. After the murder, his two associates attempted to dispose of the body, trying to destroy evidence, but it was later found by the police.

The charge sheet also includes evidence from post-mortem reports, DNA analysis, and forensic findings such as viscera and blood samples. The report states that the motive behind the crime was linked to an ongoing dispute over financial matters, particularly related to money lending and insurance fraud.
