Bhadrak, Oct 27: In a remarkable act of determination, a 14-year-old girl pulled a trolley rickshaw for approximately 35 kilometers, carrying her father to the district headquarters hospital. On their way back, they received help from local MLA Sanjeev Mallik, and former MLA Rajendra Das.

The daughter of Sambhunath Sethi of Nadigaan village embarked on this challenging journey to carry her father to the Dhamnagar Community Health Centre (CHC) and subsequently to the district headquarters hospital for treatment as he had a fractured hand. Sambhunath consulted with doctors who recommended surgery to be performed in seven days. Following this, his determined daughter continued pulling the trolley with her father.
During their journey, they were intercepted by some members of the media who inquired about their situation. Bhadrak MLA Sanjeev Mallik, who happened to be passing by, stopped to learn more about the matter. He promptly contacted the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) to seek assistance.
Upon the legislator's request, the CDMO arrived at the scene, collected the patient's medical history, and arranged an ambulance to shift the patient and his daughter back to the hospital. MLA Mallik commented, "I learned about this situation from the media. Immediately, I called the CDMO, who arrived and organized the treatment for the fractured hand. The CDMO has assured me that if necessary, the surgery will be conducted very soon."
Dr. Santanu Patra, the CDMO, explained, "He was admitted to the hospital on October 23 and discharged the next day with plans for surgery next week. Government ambulance services for patients returning home are not available. When I was made aware of the incident, I immediately took action and arranged for their transportation to the hospital once more. They will remain at the hospital until the treatment is completed."
