Kendrapara, Dec 22: Bhitarkanika National Park witnessed a massive influx of tourists on Sunday, with visitors thronging the protected area to enjoy its rich wildlife and natural beauty. According to the Forest Department, as many as 1,158 tourists entered the park through the Dangamal main gate alone.

Boat tourism also saw significant activity. A total of 1,147 tourists traveled in 98 boats from Khola, while 181 tourists arrived in 12 boats from Chandbali. Similarly, 378 tourists visited the park in 27 boats from Gupti. Altogether, 2,864 tourists enjoyed boat rides along the rivers flowing through Bhitarkanika.

During the boat safaris, tourists were captivated by crocodiles basking on the riverbanks, herds of deer, and a variety of colorful birds. The Bhitarkanika selfie point remained crowded as visitors eagerly clicked photographs. Many tourists spent considerable time at the mangrove nursery, the museum, and near the pond inhabited by crocodiles Gori and Malli. The skywalk attracted a large number of visitors, offering them a unique and thrilling experience. At the hatchery, tourists were delighted to see crocodile hatchlings and were particularly moved after witnessing the rare white crocodile, Swetaa.
