Minor boy drowns while bathing in pond in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sept 6: A 17-year-old boy drowned while bathing in a pond in Balianta area of the capital city Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Jharpada area in the city.

As per reports, four persons including the minor had gone to take bath in Puri Main Canal near Alarpur under Balianta police limits. While bathing, the minor boy accidentally fell into deep waters and was swept away by strong current and went missing.

Thereafter, his friends alerted the fire fighters who then rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to trace the boy. However, his body was fished out this morning.

On getting the information, police rushed to the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

An unnatural death case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
